PSI signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi Standards as a result of Tasdeer’s technical assistance

The Minister of National Economy, Khaled Al-Osaili, announcing the mutual recognition agreement that has been signed between The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization and the Palestinian Standards Institute (PSI) on non-food items. The Minister gave special thanks to Tasdeer programme for supporting the process which led to this milestone achievement. This agreement will allow Palestinian non-food and non- drugs products to enter the Saudi market without any additional standards tests.
Tasdeer is a 4.5-year, £15 million development programme funded by UK Aid from the British Government and implemented by a consortium led by Cowater International. Tasdeer supports the improvement of trade performance in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). The programme aims to contribute to a more dynamic growth led by the private sector and strengthen OPT’s fiscal sustainability through 4 focus areas which consist of expedite the movement of goods across borders and reduce transaction costs, improve the trade-enabling environment, strengthen the private sector’s export competitiveness, and improve OPT’s customs capacity.
